Default giac compatibility

I'm buying a giac chipped ecu off a 2000 1.8t. I want to put it on my '01 and i'm wondering if it will work. If not i'll just put it on my girlfriends 2000 but the thought of her car beingfaster than mine sucks. Also where's a good place to find a cheap diverter valve. Someone mentioned a $40 one on a forum the other day but i cant find the forum again.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the 2001 has a different version of the 1.8T than the 2000. I could be wrong, though.

When buying used chips its always smartest to buy one from the same year.
