Good Deal?
Hi I am new to this forum. I am thinking of purchasing an Audi so I figured I'd sign up here and maybe get some help. This guy is selling a 2008 Audi A4 fully loaded + s line package with 88,000 miles. it is white with black emblems and trim stuff, wheels, and windows are tinted black. So this guy has put time and money into its appearance. No engine mods to my knowledge. Also the interior is in perfect condition. With all that being said, he is asking 13,000 flat. I've asked to negotiate but he tells me he is firm on his price and refuses to go any cheaper. Carfax checks out and the car has been serviced every 15,000 miles and has had no major repairs. So my question to you guys is if you think this is worth the 13,000 dollars? I've never bought any audi before so I'm not familiar with typical used prices. Thanks for your input in advanced.
Check Kelly Blue Book for an idea. In my area based on what you told me (and what mine has) the car runs $12k to $14k. That would put it in the price right in the middle.
One thing to check is if it is a true S-line. In 2008 all the A4s received the badging and body mods. To tell if it is a real S-line check the following:
1. Steering wheel sould be a three spoke and have an s-line badge
2. Check the color of the shocks/struts. They should be a reddish brown in color.
Those two items are the easiest to check and the hardest to change out to make the car look like a true s-line.
Also, at 88k miles would are closing in on the timing belt replacement. That could run you $1k or so. I did mine at 105k, others choose to do it sooner.

I'd say that he's asking the correct price. Like the above post said you'll need the timing belt done in about 10k miles. I don't know how much you drive so it could be soon or it could be a a year or two. You could try and use that as a negotiating point though because it is an expensive job.
Thanks for the responses i'll definitely be checking to see if it is a true s-line. If it is just a body mod s-line, would it be worth significantly less? I don't think it has the 3 spoked wheel but it does have paddle shifters. I don't know if that is s-line related but i don't seem to see standard a4's with them.
I doubt it would be much less. Maybe a few hundres dollars. I checked a few pictures of A4s for sale in my area and the four spoke wheel had the paddle shifters.
Edit: Also, sounds like this car has been customized some so that will need to be taken into consideration with the pricing. As an example the wheels might be worth more than the factory wheels (especially if you like them). I would think if you walked up with $12,500 in cash and explained to him that is has the s-line body just not the guts (suspension, steering wheel, door sill plates) you might get him to sell. The S-line also had 18 inch wheels. This might not be a talking point if really like the wheels on the car. Wish I could remember all the differences (there were not that many).

Found this, it might help:
What's New for 2008
For 2008, the Audi A4 receives only minor changes. Exterior features that were previously available as part of the sedan and wagon's optional S line sport package are now standard. This means that front and rear bumpers have been revised, as has the lower side door trim. An integrated trunk lid spoiler has been added, along with a new front grille and S line badging. To reflect this, the optional S line Sport Package has been trimmed to include just a sport-tuned suspension, sport three-spoke steering wheel, aluminum trim, 18-inch wheels and leather upholstery with unique stitching.
