i was just wondering what goes wrong if someone has a blown turbo. someone i know is selling a 01 s4 but the turbos are blown, so he thinks its gunna be about $5000 to fix the turbos, but i know i can find two k04 tubos for about $1000(which i didnt tell him). so my question is should i take the time and look at this car or is it going to be way more to fix then just replacing the turbos? i was wondering how someone can just blow the turbos and nothing else. but if that is common to blow a turbo and nothing else then i think i want to buy this car. he said he would sell me the car for only $9500 if i was interested, or he said he would trade my car for his(even swap). also if someone blows the turbos does that mean that he probably treated the car like crap or can it jsut be from driving to hard a few times?

 

you need S4 turbo's not just regular k04-015's - you would need k04-001 and some other k04-??? I think. Thats why he is right when he estimates 5k - as for the damage that was caused by blowing a turbo? I don't know, could be really bad, could be ok - your going to need to have all pipeing and the two SMIC's cleaned out of any shavings that the inlet fin shreded off. If you can get the car for dirt cheap 3-5$k - I would say it might be worth your time - otherwise buy it from him and part it out

 

no, you need the ko4-026 and ko4-027 iirc. but they are $2000 plus you need inlet pipes and hardware which is another $600. so that is $2600 just for the turbo's. you can run them on stage 1(chip) or you can spend another $2,000-3,000 for stage 3 fueling(MAF, injectors, chip, etc).

and if you are going to go full stage 3 fuelling. then you're going to need to spend another $1,000 for intercoolers and$500-1000 for clutch. and this is just basic parts to get the car running..

this isn't including the $2000-3000 for labor to change out the turbo's alone

 

Where can you get S4 K04's for $1g? If so, I'll take 6 sets.

It's around $2700 for S4 K04's & inlet pipes. You can run it this way safely.

The bad part, is you need to drop the engine from the car to get at the turbo's, it's about 30hrs of labor for a shop to do it. Most pople also to the TB at this time, plus you will need new DV's & TBB for K04's, unless the old parts are only a month or 2 old.

In the end, you will dump $5000-8000 into the car, just to have it running.

If you know a dealer, you can get a running B5 S4 for $10k. There's some on Autotrader and other online auto places selling for $10k.

 

cool thanks for the help guys. it sounds like im just gunna pass this one up cause i need a car i can drive every day and i dont have 30 hrs to fix all those problems. ill see the guy that owns it this weekend and find out more info on the car. ill post up everything i find out about the car on here so if anyone on here wants a part car you can look at this one if your interested. last week i only talked to the kids father so he knew very few details, hopefully this week i can find everything out like a solid price and everything. and as far as the turbos go, i didnt know it had to be a specific Ko4 like that, which is why i thought i could get them cheap,so sorry for gettin anyones hope up that i could get turbos that cheap.
