you think a new fuel filter will stop this hideous sound?

Are you sure that the fuel filter wouldn't relate more to the startup of the car as apposed to turning it off?

Could be, but for reassurance that isn't the problem I suggest you change it. I used a wix brand ($17, came with new crush washers too) filter, and everyone is going to say buy OEM, but anything was better than the 94k ORIGINAL filter I had on there.

Sounds like a fuel pump on its way out. They usually get noisy before you have driveability problems.

+1^^^^ i had the same problem, changed the fuel pump and sound went away. i didnt have cel and no codes when this was happening either.

My 96 2.8 does the same thing when I turn it off. It's never over heated, I've check all lines for leaks, I' ve changed the thermastat, and iy's still doing.

My 00 1.8t does it as well.
