Had the A4 over a year, and I guess I got jaded a little...
I picked up a Ford Contour for Free-ninty-nine about a month ago just to put around whenever the Audi needs work. I thank the horsepower, heated leather seats, comfort, bose stereo, AWD, 5 spd, climate control, etc... everytime I drive the Audi now.
And even though the Ford gets 35mpg @ $3.33 per gallon, I'll drive my 23mpg Audi anyday even if I were broke.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the features. Personally, I'll forego the second car for now as I'm getting mid 20s around town and 31-32 hwy driving
Thats crazzy lol I was just in my old 97 Geo yesterday when I was home. Its a very nice and reliablie car with 170k on it the thing still pulls and is getting better mpg now then it did 2 years ago. I spent the last 4 days in an 02 Xterra while a beast of a machine it fells cheep compared to the Audi. Not just in looks thats a givin for the inside it was meant for simple and effortless to use which it dose well, but the way it felt in terms of security. That and the valet at the airport wanted to keep it, damn she looked good after not seeing her for a few days.
Yeah, I feel sorry for you bro - there's got to be something else going on. But yeah, I absolutely get that kind of mileage. On the highway, I get that mileage at a steady 70-75 speed, no cruise control, no AC running. Brightside, if you're getting poor mileage check the following:
O2 sensors (biggest contributor to mileage), air filter, coolant temp sensor, tire inflation pressures. Any of those can have adverse effects on mileage.
Are you still up for coming down to hang with us?

I averaged 33 mpg by calculating gallons needed to top off and like 34.2 on the trip computer during a 100 mile round trip to the airport. Cruise set at 70,heated seats on,heat on,2 200lb people in the car and a couple hundred pounds of cable fittings and ground wire in the trunk. Set cruise at 65 goin and 70 comin back. Took the entrance and exit ramps at 50ish in 2nd boostin hard then hard on the brakes and boostin hard again connecting the tight turns. I average around 30+ Highway with cruise and speeds below 85 and 23-24 pure city. Can't complain. Fuel wise the car is very thrifty, then take into acount its AWD,3300lbs and geared short and its even better. It is actually the most fuel efficent car i've owned in real world conditions and i owned 2 NA 4 bangers. Lowest i got out of it highway was about 26mpg drivin between 85 and 130 like a maniac down the Garden state parkway over that same route i took for the 33mpg trip. Foot to the floor most of the time over 90,valentine 1 on and CB radio cracklin.
I totally understand how you feel. This past weekend I rented a 2007 nissan Xterra to drive to Medford, OR to clean out my storage unit. Its about a 6 hour trip. I kept my audi parked for 3 days and it was the first time since owning it that it has not been driven at least once a day. On my way to work this eveningin the audiwas soooo nice and comfortable. I realized how nicemy audi was even though its an 03 compared to an 07. The xterra had nothing great to offer. We just took it offroading and that seems like the only good thing about it. Glad you get to enjoy your audi a little more , I know for sure that I do

thats true, i drive my gfs 99 mazda 626, its a decent car, but it feels kinda cheap and has a lack of attitude, then i hop back in my a4 and its completely different, more comfortable, more power, more personality
and then on the other hand, i drive my camaro for a whileand then hop back into the audi and realize the audi seems incredibly weak and more of a girl car than anything else
