Default Having trouble with drive shaft

My wife's A4 Avant 1.8t, Quattro, 1999 has a worn drive shaft. So I checked out some cars at the local wrecking yard. They have a '99 A4 with Q, drive shaft seems tight. I drop the exhaust, heat shield, unbolt the shaft (CV--ujoint--CV). But I'm having trouble getting it out. I can't seem to get any separation from the flanges at either end. I tried mild impacts using a punch and hammer to break it loose, but it just won't budge. I tried slamming the shaft downward at the u-joint, but worried it might damage something. I even unbolted the center where the suspension bearing is, and still it's stuck. I'm thinking about soaking it in a penetrant like Liquid Wrench, but perhaps the problem is something else? I've spent about 6 hours on it so far. ANY ADVICE?
