Default Headlight probelms....

Ok here is the situation, I purchased a 1999 A4 about 3 weeks ago and i've been having problems with the headlights eversince. The individual that owned it previously installed Euro black headlight kit himself....Here is a breakdown about what is happening and how i've tried to fix it;
- The passenger side daytime running D2Sheadlight seems to be affected most often, most of the time it will flash and then not start up at all and then other times it will light but be much dimmer then the drivers side. Funny thing is, sometimes it will present itself the exact oppostie way, drivers side will be out and passenger will be on.
Now i've tried to install new bulbs with the same snag, i've swapped ballasts and same thing again. It seems to me that considering its so erratic itmight be aloose ground but i'm not sure where to start looking, if anyone has any insight into this please pass it along. Thanks guys.
