HEADLIGHTS SUCK?
Sorry this may be a common question but i could not find any other posts close. I bought a 2000 A4 about 2 weeks ago and recently replaced the headlights. They are some cheese ebay superwhite XE bulb or something. The problem is they are not even close to being bright!!! The high beams are bright as hell but the projector sucks. Any one have any ideas on how to fix this? I mean they really dont put any light out in the projector spot. They are almost like an ambient light. Please Help!!!
If you go from a 4500k bulb to like 8000k, the 8000k bulb will only have a different color projected when they are on,but it will not project as far as the 4500k bulbs, 6000k i believe looks purplish and i know the 8000k makes a bluish color. I did the bulbs on my BMW high and low beams and there is a loss of light projected onto the road once you go from a 4500k bulb to a 8000k bulb, plus those bulbs will burn out faster than the OEM ones, plus if you replace a burnt out bulb with another 8000k bulb say, sometimes the older 8000k bulb will have a different color than the new one sometimes..........
No i dont think u understand. They look as if they are not even on. Thats how bad they suck. I dont know should i try another type of bulb? Or is something wrong with the wiring holding them up from being bright??
Nevermind, guys. I solved the problem, eventhough i dont know what it was. I bought some silverstars from Advance and they are a little brighter than stock. Better than no light at all. I crawled underneath to replace the fogs, holy crap!!! That looks like a pain trying to get those out, anyone have any luck?? Also what is the best/brightest HID kit to get? Thanks
I'd suggest from 4300k to 6000k. The usable light output is best from that range. If you got below, say 8000k, you'll get the really blue-ish looking light. It'll look cool but its more of a bright glare instead of a focused beam, and the usable light is actually less bright than stock. I have 6000k and the focus beam is a bright white. It makes the road very crisp and sharp. I've yet to actually need the high beams.
yea i think the stock halogens suck but that is why i upgraded to vision bulbs 6000k kit. when i bought my car it had some cheap wannabe xenon bulbs they suked then i put silverstars a little better but still couldn't see as good as i wanted to sooo i got HID and WOW is all i can say they are bright crisp jus perfect i can see as far as almost my highbeams i love them. HID are the only way to go and i will never have a car without them ever from now on!!!
Had the same issue with my 03. Headlights were notvery bright. Changed the bulbs to silverstars too. Seemed to help a little. Seems the headlights were too low on the pavement so tried adjusting the headlight casingsup a bitbut could not figure out how.
Yeah, my 99's reflector headlights were awful. High beams could light up a football stadium, but lows could barely illuminate the bumper of a car in front of me. I checked the angle indicators inside the housings and everything was leveled correctly - it's just a bad design for usable light output.
The easy fix is to upgrade to HIDs. $180 and three days' wait time(plus 15 minutes to install)and all my lighting issues were solved
