Default help with alternator tensioner, hope its not hard

Hi,

I need help again, I've been told i might have to change my alternator tensioner and belt, so the question is, how do i know the tensioner is due for a change? and if it is how do i change it (step by step for dummies)

hope I can get help here, it doesnt look too hard.

Thank you.

Are you sure you weren't told to change your timing belt and tensioner?

It would also help to know what car you are driving, what engine, year, model, transmission and drivetrain, modifications and mileage.

The timing belt and tensioner on older cars should be changed at 60K miles. On newer models, although Audi says you can go 105K miles, experience shows that over 80K you are pushing your luck.

okay i know not much people know much about this stuff thats why im getting no replies, anyway ive changed the belt and aparantly the belt is not sitting center with the tensioner, as the tensioner is sticking out a little more then it should, is that a concern?

not sure where you got your tb done, but they should've known to replace the serpentine belt and tensioner with the tb...check out www.ecstuning.com and look at everything that's included in their kit....replace all those parts when you do the acc belt...i also recommend changing your snub mount while youre at it (it doesn't take any more time, just pops off and on), it's 13 bucks at greedspeed.
