Default help with ARP chip

I chipped my 1.8t quattro with ARP and my engine light is on the dashboard but it is the same one that my chip uses. Ihave held the button but it keeps staying on. Any suggestions?

My check engine light has never gone on in the 35K miles since I chipped, so, no it is not normal.

i think he means, can the chip be the cause of the CEL he's getting, or would the chip trip a different light?

allaboutthea4, you can't reset your CEL by pressing the trip dial on your gauges. you can reset it with vag-com, you can disconnect the battery for an hour or so (but only if you have the code to unlock the radio), or you can go through a "drive cycle" of about 200 miles, iirc, and it will reset itself (assuming there is no problem that would cause the CEL to stay). whenever you get a CEL it's a good idea to vag your car and post the codes here. if you don't have access to a vag-com tool you can go to autozone and use their obd2 reader for free, but it's not as comprehensive as the vag-com
