Hey, does anyone know the average price to repair ball joints on an audi a4 2.8 1998? Car won't stop squeaking! the front right tire ...I tried putting WD40 grease on it, seemed to quite down a little bit.

You're probably talking about the control arms. I was quoted $1,000 just for the uppers from the dealer, parts and labor.

Just under $900 from an independant for the lowers, uppers and tie rods with me supplying the parts.

I purchased the uppers, lowers and tie rods from Getcoolparts.com for about $540, about $170 in tools I didn't have, which I get to keep, and I'm doing it myself. The biggest expense tool wise was $140 for the 3287A tool, Ball Joint Link Tool. It'll be another $68 for the alignment.

I bought the Audi Tool and Snap On crows foot. You could saves a few bucks by finding/buying less expensive tools and replacing just the arms you need to. I just figured since I'm going in there, I'm doing it all.

By the way, those prices were in WA.

 

i got my control arm kit with tie rod ends at ecs for $599. had them installed at a local shop for $315. the $315 also included alingment and an oil change.

 

hmmmmm, i did my uppers my self and didnt need a special tool. what is the tool ur speaking of?

 

It's for removing the lower control arms. As everything there is aluminum, I didn't want to pound on it with a pickle fork.
