Ok...so i get a call from a friend with the same car as me, a 2003 A4 1.8T non-quattro....she is driving down the road, and the car looses all power, so she jumps it into tip mode and downshifts to get more HP and the car dies on her at 75 miles per hour and on the interstate....

she gets it to autozone with a towtruck and gets these codes,

P0342 - Camshaft Pos.Sensor Circ Low Input
P0102 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circ Low Input
P0299 - Turbo/supercharger underboost

Car wont start, and her husband says that there seems to be no compression, which makes me look past the turbo being blown and to first check out the timing belt... car has about 54,000 miles on it. and was bought used, so its possible..

I dont know if any of you have had this problem before, so let me know if you can help me, it would be great.

i had a similar problem and it ended up being a bad MAF. I'm sure onepoint8tee will chime in on this and know what it is. First guess though Bad MAF especially looking at those codes. but then again i am no tech!

 

First check for an air hose that has come loose.

Also could be a bad maf. Check the piping all the way from the intake, to the airbox, to the maf, to the turbo, to the smic, to the TB intake.

I bet one has come loose somewhere. For me, the hose from the SMIC to the TB intake came off, and the car went crazy.

 

Sounds like a blown offcoupler to me. Im sure if the TB snapped it would of been more noticable.
