Default HELP! Car has a mind of its own

Okay well it started last night. After I pulled in the driveway I took my key out and noticed that the battery warning light was flickering on and off. Also the car alarm keeps going off 2-3 times every night.
So today I pull into the school lot and it starts again! But this time the interment gauge lights come on and stay on along with the battery indicator. What is going on? could it be that I need to replace the battery?-The car is a 98.5 a4 2.8. it has a viper remote starter.-all help is welcomed. Sorry if this question has been asked before I have searched and could not find anything like this.

I'd start by going to your nearest autoparts store and having the batter load tested ...if it turns out that the battery doesn't need replacement than go back to the place that installed your alarm, or a place that installs alarms and have them double check the wiring and such....

sounds like a battery issue, but it may be a wacked out alarm...

who installed ur alarm? it has to be a shorted wire because if ur battery was bad u wouldn't be driving cuz ur car would be dead.

Could be your battery. I have the Viper 791XV remote start security system on my truck. When the battery got low, the alarm started acting whacky. When the battery got really low, the alarm stopped working(wouldn't lock/unlock or arm/disarm) until I replaced the battery

It could be your remote start also. I had one on my Jeep before I had my Audi. It would randomly start the car. It got to the point I had to disconnect the battery every time I parked it because it would just start right back up. I took it to a local place that does car security systems and such and just told them to take the whole remote start system out.

What does the gauge show when you have the ignition to "on" postion(without starting the engine). Does the engine turn over normal or slower than normal?
