help with a couple of codes please
p0123
p1544
My car (98 1.8tq AEB) gave me these codes when I plugged the OBD II into it from Autozone. My girlfriends jetta got a CEL (p0420 - cat maybe?) and since I had the machine, I figured I would plug it into my car. I had no CEL though. I did a search and found out that they have to do with the TB, but I couldn't find much info. Does anybody know what it takes to fix these?

RE: help with a couple of codes please
P0123= Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "A" Circuit High
P1544= Angle Sender 1 for Throttle Valve Drive G-187 Signal Too High
Sounds like there is a problem with the throttle body, check electrical connectors, remove the hose and make sure no carbon build up is on the butterfly valve, and perform a throttle body alignment.

RE: help with a couple of codes please
The timing belt??? Oh...when I said TB, I meant throttle body....not timing belt. The timing belt broke on me around 13,000 miles ago [:@]. I definitly know what happens when that blows.
As for the throttle body...I cleaned that up a few days ago and there wasa whole lot of carbon on it. Not any more though. I took it off and cleaned with throttle body cleaner, and then put it back on with a new gasket. I will do the things you said though (check connectors) + plus make sure the bolts are nice tight.
After I cleaned it though, I checked it the next day and there was a fair amount of fresh oil in it. Here is the link to the thread I started about that -

I hope to replace the pcv system in a week or so, and am thinking of getting a catch can.......but I am not sure if I need one yet, if I replace my whole pcv system.
I have done a throttle body alignment before, but I have read that you should actaully see the linkage move and mine deffinitly does not move. I hear a winding sound...but no movement.
