HELP!! Cv boot gone bad!
Hi everyone and thanks in advance for reading.
While bleeding the brakes I noticed some black lubricant on the driver's wheel. I noticed that the Cv boot polymer (black polymer stuff in the picture below - not the lube pak):

Problem is Im about to do a 400 miles trip. Is it ok to have like that for that distance or should it be fixed right away?
Any advice will more than appreciated.
Thanks!!

You should be fine. As long as its not making any noise/clicking on turns etc you dont need to worry about anything until that happens. Youll hear it start to go bad before the joint fails. There are temporary cv boots you can get and put on without taking the axle offto be safe so no debris gets in there and makes things worse faster. Might want to look into that. But i have a maxima that has both cv boots torn in half all the way around, its been that way for almost 3 years and its fine, surprisingly.
