I have 2000 Audi A4 turbo Q with 64,000 miles on it. A month ago, the engine light came on...I checked the oil, transmission fluid and everything was normal. I drove for 25 miles and the engine light indicator went off while driving...everything was normal. Now it came on again 3 days ago. For the last 3 days the engine light was on but today morning it went off and everything is normal again.

Can you please tell what could be the reason for this? Do I need to worry about this if there is big problem with engine? Thanks.

 

Take it to Autozone and pull codes. Post it here and people will tell you what to look for. You are getting some kind of error but it is resetting itself. May be something on its way out. The code should still be stuck in memory, so get it, write it down, and then clear all the codes so you know if its the same problem the next time the car throws a light.
