Default Help finding correct sensor

I recently put a tranny out of a 98 a4 1.8t into my 98 a4 2.8. I can not find the correct crankshaft position sensor that will fit correctly. the problem i keep running into is that the shaft of the sensor that mounts to the bell housing is too long. I have tried many differnet years and motors to try and find the correct one. IF anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks.

uhhh from what ive heard only the 2.8 tranny can go into the 1.8t, a 1.8t tranny will NOT fit up to a 2.8 engine for some reason.

im not sure why that would be, they are identical cases just slightly different internals. it should have matched up with the sensor off the 1.8 trans. i have a 2.8 trans in my 1.8,,, but i dont know why you would want the opposite??? shorter gears are not usually desireable in our cars...
