Default help! got a few questions and need advice!

What up all! hey I have a few questions about the S4 and the A4! I´m looking to get another audi I had a 2001 A4 2.8, and I loved it! and I´m looking to get another one, but I want it to be a little faster and more sporty! I´ve been depating between, the s4 or the 1.8 t and putting the basic mods on it like the chip, and a new exaust, and air intake! but I would really like to get the s4 but I´m worried about the realiablity, I´ve heard some horor stories about the s4! and I want to get a reliable car that I don´t have to worry about soaking alot of money into just to keep it running! So how reliable is the s4, I´m talking the older 200-2002 bi-turbos? also what is more reliable the 2001 1.8 T or the 2000-2002 S4? please help me out and give me some advice, I know this is a newb question! but you guys have more experiences with the s4s than I do! also what car would you recomend, the 2001 A4 1.8t modded up a bit to 220 Hp or the S4? I just a good reliable car, becasue I´m a collage kid that doesn´t want to fork out alot just on maintance! It wwill be my daily driver, so I want good car that will last! please help me out! thanks!

I dont think S4's have any terrible problems... just basic maintenence, which is expensive as always. Timing belt is the big one, again.
Just maintain the hell out of it, and nothing should break. If you can resist a chip, your k03's will last a long time. If you respect it, as it would be your daily driver... I'm sure the S4 would provide years of enjoyment!
Plus S4's get you bigger brakes, better looks (inside and out), better suspension, and a 6 spd. Can't really go wrong!

Oh the whole the 1.8t is probably a little more reliable than the S4. Turbo changes on the S4 can be very pricey as the whole engine has to be lifted out to change them. If you are really worried about repair costs I would go with the 1.8t. If you want to have luxury and speed go for the S4, but save a little money away for repairs. The S4 would be more fun though.

Thanks for the help, I´m leaning towads the 1.8t right now! but I´m still undecided becasue man the s4 its the s4, its apimp *** car, but the 1.8t can be a pimp *** car too with mods right! alos its abit cheaper, so I can save a bit of money for mods and stuff! but anymore comments and opinos would help! thanks

I was in the same boat as you were. Just remember, you can go low cost, get a 1.8T, put money into it as you like and then when you are holding down a full time job, raking in the dough, get yourself a new S4, the V8 style and they you can save up and go all RS4 conversion on us and be cranking out some mad numbers.

Aww come on now? Change is good, and personally I'm a fan of two turbos sitting on a V8. It's just the Bi-Turbo years with a little more pep.

So am I, but the new s4 and rs4 are N/A. So if you want a new Audi w/ a turbo, your only option is the 2.0T.

Oh my bad. I don't know what I was thinking. I was certainly confusing the new and old. Huh. Now that you've smacked my head back in place, I'll have to change my opinion slightly and come around and agree with you more on that one. Wow, I was under the complete wrong impression. I was confused. My bad.
