I haven't been getting any boost for about a week or so now- no I don't have a boost gauge but its was obvious nothing was going on. I built myself a boost leak checker and found a loose wastegate line and a crack in the hard elbow to the bypass valve hose. Fixed those and the system held pressure so I took her on the road --- nothing at first. I ran some hard pulls in 2nd & 3rd but didn't feel anything. Suddenly, in the middle of one runi t was like the boost just ripped in for about a second along with a strange sound and then cut off again. It did this one more time and that was it - no more boost.
What gives???
Also, ran it for like 15 minutes trying to get things figured out and when I was done I popped the hood and the turbo was glowing - Is that normal?

 

The turbo is shot I would guess and because it's not spinning extra heat buildup is happening atthe hot side.

 

If you were pushing the car the turbo will always start to glow, no matter if its shot or not.

Second, check all hoses and connections. Check the L breether valve between the engine and the coolant tank.. those rip all the times.. its a rubber hose in the shape of a L but upside down. check all your vacuum lines.

is your turbo making any funny noises? also is there white smoke coming out of ur exaust?

 

may be a bad DV I doubt the turbo is shot they ALWAYS glow

 

I'll do another boost leak check and visually look at the hoses. What does the L breather valve connect too? Is ithard or soft? I haven't noticed any white smoke but I'll look and the two instances when the boost kicked in for a second I did hear a strange noise. The noise is what has me worried. Up to this point I haven't had any problems with it.
