HELP NEEDED ON RIMS/TIRES...
i have a '97 A4 Quattro, and just installed stock A3 ('06 i believe) rims on it. before i bought them, i checked to make sure they were compatible, and they are supposed to be. but the tires are hitting controller arms on all 4 of them! so my question is, could i just buy some spacer plates (and possibly longer bolts) and that will clear up the problem? or am i going to need to get tires that have a bevel, so it has some space between the tire and the controller? or is everything i read and everyone i checked with wrong and these rims just not compatible with my A4? any info from all you Audi Gurus would be appreciated!
Doesn't sound like they are compatable. Double check bymeasuring your offset or backspacing on your original stock wheels and the A3 wheels and compare. Do the A3wheels/tires look to beset further inside you wheel wells? Sounds to me like the A3 has more backspacing, causing your interference problem. Since they don't fit right, you should try to get your money back.
well, i don't have the original stock tires. when i bought the vehicle, it had these crappy 19" rims on it. i wanted to put something much closer to stock on it... but i'll try that - measure the 19" rims offset and check the offset on these 17" A3 rims. thanks!

after doing a bit more research, it looks like the original stock offset on my A4 is 45mm and the stock offset on the '06 A3 is 56mm. so would 8mm spacers work? thanks for the help!

I believe the offset of the A3's is 45mm, you will be fine if you grab some 8mm spacers...
