Default HELP PLEASE drivers seat motor is dead need advice!

My drivers side seat bottom motor is dead, and the dealership said the part is $230 bucks not including install. I'm wondering how to take out the seat and possibly move it forward manually beacuse it's WAY far back.... or if i can find a place that sells the part for cheaper... any advice PLEASE in how to take out the seat and reposition it, or where to find the part for cheaper!!! Thanks!

I would opt to find a used one from a junkyard.

Or a manual seat w/ rails

Anybody know if a 2002 style seat will fit in our cars? I love the manual seats in my dads B6... with the ratchet lever thing to raise and lower it... its a killer design!

but yes, I'd definately be calling the wreckers, like jest said

Come to think of it... screw around with it a bit... maybe smack it or something... lol, I just remembered that the same exact problem happened with my dads 96... and it was intermittant... it just suddenly stopped working... but then it would work again... it was off and on, so keep trying it!

haha okay, i'll give it a couple smacks upside the head. by any chance do you know how many bolts there are that attach the seat? I was gonna take it out and fiddle with it but could only find 2 bolts in the front.

there is a single rail in the front... pull the pin out of that.. pull the cover off the back of the rails on the back of the seat.. release the stops. slide backwards out of the two side rails. then push forward out of the center rail in the front
