HELP!!! IT S&%T THE BED!!!
Okay, went to start it, and the starter was dead. no clicking, 13v on voltmeter, tried to jump it and nothing. Figured the starter was dead, so I pushed it and popped the clutch to get it home. Well, that worked, and it was okay for two miles- then the battery warning light popped up on the screen, the voltmeter went down to 8 volts, and the ABS light came on. Had to turn around and park it.... anybody have ANY idea what could be wrong??? '01 A4 2.8 Q 5-spd
no, tried to jump ittwice and nothing. If it was a bad battery, why wouldn't the alternator give me full voltage while the car was running? I only had about 9 volts with the xenons on while driving...
im sayin its the battery probably, or could be a bad terminal thats what i would try first, i just went through all this in my truck went out and put a new battery didnt hold a charge then a new alternator with an exchanged/new battery and new terminals with wires still died, all to find out i was having a dead short in my power wire going to the starter which killed the battery with no problem, i changed it and havent had a problem since... was weird too cause i would get in it one day and it would start up fine, drive to the store shut it off come back and go to start it and nothin wiggle some wires a few times and fire right up... did that for about a month before i found out that it was just that power wire
