Default Help with Xenon Lights

Alright so i buy my 01 audi A4 and the low bulbs are xenon but the high beams and fog lights are not. How do i know which kind of xenon to use on my car? i was told H7 as long as it is low voltage cuz high can mess up/ melt the wires.

If it came from the factory with xenon, the low beams are D2S. If you want to convert the high beams to xenon, you will need a H7 conversion kit.

EDIT:
I think you will need a seperate conversion kit for the high beams (definitely not plug and play). I just bought a kit from Visionbulbs.com for $200 shipped (on sale). I'm not sure if they are still on sale but you can check. Normally they cost ~260ish (I think). The installation is easy and it is a good quality product. Hope this helps.

I bought my 01 audi used from a dealership so i dont know if the person b4 me did a conversion for the lights. i know that the 01 had the option to get xenon lights which im assuming they did. if thats the case do i still need the conversion kit? if i didnt do the conversion what would happen? the lights just not turn on or would it mess my wires up?

If you go to this site from sylvania and do your make and model it tells you what kind of bulbs you can use. this is the link for my car. http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...RG-Results.htmit tells me i can use H7's in my car. am i just really confused or what?

Most '01 a4's do not have the low beam xenons..... it is an option, and i have seen only a few 1.8T's with the low beam 4300k around my area.... most are halogen projectors.... never the less you will need the conversion kit for bi-xenon

Whether your car came with xenon (it probably did) or the previous owner did a conversion kit, you will still need a seperate conversion kit. The reason is that each bulb needs a different ballast. If you tried to plug in xenon bulbs into your regular high beams, they would not ignite. A ballast is used to generate extremely high voltages to ignite and power xenon bulbs. Also, if you buy a conversion kit, it will come with special wiring that is safe and can handle the voltage. Hopefully I'm not being too confusing [sm=icon_blah.gif]
