I've been wanting to get a test pipe but have to pass emissions.

But was wondering if a Test Pipe is interchangeable with the cat? and how long of a process is it?

Yep, you will fail emissions with a testpipe. A testpipe is a direct replacement of your CAT, it isn't that hard of a task to do, the hardest part is getting the bolts loose where it connects to the downpipe. The 3 bolts on the turbo are cake. Use lots of PB blast for the DP bolts and it should be fine. If any of the bolts wont come off the DP CAT connection dont cut the top bolt off, bad idea, the nut on the backside is welded to the cat, i spent 2 hours with vise grips turning it out. After you install it and all the bolts are fresh and free of rust, its east to remove. I just removed mine the other day along with the turbo, it took me an hour get the car on stands and remove the CAT. First time should take you 3 hours at most if everything goes ok.

Yep, just take the tespipe out and through in the CAT for emissions and then once your done put the testpipe back on. Only thing you might want extra of are gaskets, just to make sure there is a tight seal.
