Quick one:
When I start up my 2003 A4 Avant 1.8T, a very high pitched whine is emitted from somewhereunder the rear seat. It does not matter if I am in drive or park, as soon as the engine starts, the sounds starts with it. It sounds like a mosquitoe buzzing beside your ear...it is that high pitched and quiet. Barely audible in fact, but it is definietely a new sound. I can here it better outside the car, rather than inside the car. It is not stereo related. I think it might be the fuel pump. Any thoughts?

Also I have a CD error 3 that just came on the stereo (completely unrelated). Is this covered under warranty?

its your fuel pump. mine does that all the time and sometimes it gargles. goes away after a few secs.

 

Have you had the recall perfomred on your vehicle. 03's are supposed to have the fuel pump replaced.

Fuelfilter is mos def the problem. I had that problem a month back and i had it changed ASAP. I went to the dealer and bough the filter for $47.00 and changed itr myself.

Since i have changed it i have not heard no buzzing or whinning from the back

You may want to change this ASAP becuase if willcause trouble to your fulepump.
