I need your help.

So, a couple weekends ago i changed my timing belt. A couple days ago, I tried to open my hood, and I realized I forgot to connect my hood latch cable. So now, after trying to get help on the 'zine, and the local euro shop, I need serious help!

Here is the latch i need to release:

i would suggest you try to slide your hand up the bottom and release it manually. then once it's open reattach it

 

Well I can't get anything up the backside, the radiator fans and the motor block it from underneath.

 

what about trying to stick something, mabye a screwdriving or coat hanger through the audi ring where the latch comes out usually? and then try to manually get it open

 

dosnt the front grill just pop off if you pull it(not sure) if thats the case maybe you can pull it off and get to it

 

I have the grill out right now, the problem is that there are two latches that need to be released, the first one (the circled one in the pic) releases by pulling to the side, and that one is behind the front clip, and down ~2", then the next one is easy, thats the one that sticks out of the grill.

A coat hanger may work... i'm starting to think i'll have to bend something to get it out.

 

can u unscrew the latch from the hood.

 

oh yeah! maybe, i'll go check that out now.

Can anyone get me a picture of the hood latch? I can see two bolts, but there has to be more. I just want to make sure before I start taking things off.

looks like 3 bolts mines a 2000 so should be the same
