So I was doing a timing belt the other day and I think when I removed the front carrier to get to the front of the engine I knock the cable for the hood out. does anyone know how to open the hood without the cable?

ooo thats goin to be tough. think there any way to get your grill off with the hood closed? thats the only way I can see it happenin.

Crow bar? Depending on what grill you have you might be able to fish a hook tool in there and pull the cable from the outside . . .

There is a small lever on the back side of the locking mechanismthat needs to be pushed twards the driver side (it is where the cable end attaches). Try to go in with something long inbetween the motor and cooling fans, it's gonna be a bitch. Sorry I can't expain it any better than that.

haha, i think that should be added int he timing belt write-up. MAKE SURE YOU RECONNECT YOUR HOOD LATCH CABLE! I actually did the same thing.... I just got it fixed today.
Get under the car and remove the belly pan.
The sensor for the hood latch will in your view from underneath.
Use a dowel or long pry bar to move it out of the way. There's a little gold clip that you can move with some effort.
Right behind the sensor you'll be able to see where the cable was suppose to attach. Give that a push with your dowel and the hood should pop right open.
don't remove your grille from the outside, you'll probably break some tabs.
If i can find the charger for my digi cam i'll try to post pictures of what i'm talking about tomorrow if you still have a problem.
