Default Hoping new cat will fix problems.

SO after dealing with backfires for a while and crappy drive quality, im hoping installing a high flow cat will fix this problem. I will be getting rid of my car eventually, so i hope it wont be too loud with the new cat, but i have no choice, i cant afford to continual damage the turbo.
Anyone have input on hi flow cats?? im more then likely going to go with one from tantrum werks i found in another thread. http://www.tantrumwerks.com/html/18exhaust.html
260 seems like a damn good deal. I think flowmaster is 300 and never found borla's.

Is you cat clogged now? Are you getting any codes? When does it backfire? It might be something as simple as a bad cam sensor, or a cam sensor out of adjustment. Or you can have a clogged cat, but they should not cause backfires.

fault codes mate?? why fit a hfc without having it checked for codes because it seems your throwing money away on a guess, perhaps it needs tuning properly reading all the mods you have in there

"Crappy drive quality" is a pretty vague description other than its backfiring. I doubt a hfc will fix your problems. Have you tried getting fault codes?

Well, the car back fires at open throttle and sometimes when i dont give it enough gas off the line, it just chokes and backfires. The car is completely unsmooth throught the rpm rangewhen accelerating normally. Its like its bogging down, especially after about 3100 rpm or so it chokes and its constant. I havent checked for codes, but im lazy, and i need to drop the exhaust becasue there are vibration issues that i cant seem to fix from the hangers etc. My buddy before me ran a bov for a little on the car, as dumb as that is.

Is your CEL on or flashing? Definately check for codes before spending any money. Youd have to be a complete dumbass to do it any other way... No offense.. Sounds like some severe misfires.

Well it could be, but ive read it doesnt hurt to have a hfc on a ko4.
But for the misfires, i can just go to autozone or someplace and they can read it? I know they have a machine, but dont know anything about it or how to fix.
