I have a V6 A4 that's getting too hot under load (driving at around 80mph). The gauge is creeping steadily beyond the halfway point and I strongly suspect it would overheat if I dared to go far enough in it. I've just had both fans fixed but this makes no difference at fast speeds. Thermostat, water pump and gauge are all ok, and there are no signs of head gasket failure. Any input would be much appreciated.

 

No fault codes? Vacuum leaks making it run lean?

 

Hi Paul, will check fault codes through climate control display tomorrow. Will vacuum leaks show up on this?

 

coolant temp sensor. Common problem on the 1.8ts dunno of the 2.8 uses the same thing
