There might be a recirculation arrow button to recirculate the cabin air. Keep it off and change the cabin air filter if it's dirty.

 

Ya, the only time i ever use the vents is if its unbearably hot (like 115) and im not going fast, or if its cold and im using the heater. other than that, i allways have the front 2 windows down and the sunroof. on most cars, econ is useless unless its like 65 outside. thenits nice
