How do these cars not blow up?
Hey guys, i'm not an audi guy, but my little bro is... he's got a b5 a4 1.8
he's just starting to mod it, he just got a giac equivilant ecu reflash and is about to put a test pipe on and a couple other little things.. my question is how can you guys run 20 lbs safely? i've been a dsm guy for a long time, i used to have a 98 gsx and running 20lbs would be unheard of without, at the very least, bigger injectors, a fuel pump and then some kind of piggyback air/fuel controller. even then at 20lbs most would want to beef up their bottom end before boosting that high.
how can you guys' stock fuel systems keep up with running 20lbs when your only "chipping" your ecu's? how big are the stock injectors on these things? whats the flow rate of the stock pump? dont tell me to search for this stuff cause i dont really care, i just wanted to start a discussion (flame on dsm most likely)
anyway.... dsm's pwn :P

Even with a chip and all the bolt ons, the stock turbo is only making about 230hp and 260tq. The stock injectors are ~250cc @4barfor the A4's and 317cc @3bar for the gti/jetta/TT etc. The stock fuel system is good for about 230whp. Also the pistons are good for over 700hp and the stock rods are good for 300-320wtq. The block dont need sleeved or decompressed and all the stock hardware is plenty strong. Just to give you an example, with only swapping in stronger rods, the engine can easy make over 500whp, push over 30psi and turn to 8k rpms, with proper tuning and fueling obviously. Its a rather stout motor
170hp to 220-230hp isnt that big of a jump. With a 14b or t25 it would be much more than that increasing boost 10-11psi.
Its ok, there are still people that think 10psi on one turbo is the same as 10psi on another. They just dont grasp the pressure is the same but the amount of air is far greater.

Haha will do, He still cant grasp the concept that a stock turbo can effectively make 20 lbs of boost on a stock fuel system.
