blow-thru and 16g

i have a 16g turbo that i am getting rebuilt and i am having a custom turbo manifold made for it to work with my a4

anyone ever heard of doing this?..i mean i know 16g's are really great turbos and my friend is putting out close to 400awhp with one on his talon.

so wht would you guys say...go with 440cc's and a BT tune? from like upsolute or something?


and also, has anyone ever ran a "blow-thru" setup on a 1.8t?

doubt thats gona fit with the way the compressor outlet is configured. and what's blow-thru?

The 4g63 is nothing like a 1.8t. Your not going to see those kinds of numbers. If you use upsopoop, your engine will go....BOOM. Not to mention 440cc is only good for low 300whp. You need to stop cheaping out on the car. If you continue on this path, bad things will happen. There is a saying, the cheap comes out expensive.

Blow-thru?

blow-thru...where the MAF is placed inline with the FMIC piping to get a clearer reading of a/f which eliminates it from the turbo intake.

and i know people who love their upsolute...whts wrong with them?


and wht kind of numbers would you expect from a 16g, b/c i have a guy who will build my manifold for a 16g onto my 1.8t for cheap and do the exhaust DP...so id like to make this work..isnt it close to a gt2x? or something of that nature?...just b/c noone makes a manifold for a 16g for outr cars doesnt mean its the cheap way out...its just a different turbo that noone felt like making one for...so tell me what your views are on this besides you think its cheap

only person that i have seen run a blow through maf setup is Chris Tapp on his 2.0l 35r setup. im still not sure what sensor element he used. but the stock one is not going to last long from what i have researched. it's a great idea though..

as far as the 16g, it's configured the wrong way for the longitudinal engine. made for the transverse mitsu engine's

oops, replied to fast and didn't read your last post.

but as far as hp figures, it's hard to say. the 4g63 is leaps and bounds above the 1.8t in stock and modified forms. they use a twin scroll setup stock to keep boost threashold down and power up. is your "builder" making you a twin scroll mani or just throwing the 16g flange on it?

i would guess if[which you wont] you make this happen, you could net in ~300whp

tell me how your gona get this to fit, the compressor outlet is facing the exact opposite way from where its gona connect to

btw, here's a pic for reference in case you haven't seen your own turbo yet.. if you can't figure out what is wrong with it by yourself, then step away from the 1.8t [8D]

You dont want the MAF to read pressured air. You want to keep it on the cool intake and read the air its suppose to. Plus it has nothing to do with a/f.

Unpsolute is the worst tuner and hasnt gotten any better. The stock chips suck and the BT tunes are basically bombs waiting to go off in your engine

The 16g is about the size of a gt2871r. If you really thought a gt2x (gt2054r) would make 400awhp, wow. You wont see full boost till about above 3500rpms. You are running the DSM style with the 14b style inlet right, not the EVO turbo? The 14b flange has a square flange and a circle in the middle and the evo is a twin scroll design.
