id rather wear my breaks than my synchros
perfectly matched double clutching ftw!

I usually will downshift heel-toe through second and then heel-toe double clutch to first. I can't help not downshifting when I stop, its actually become such a habit for me that I have to put my mind to not doing it.

When I went and test drove a MkV GTI, the salesman asked me to teach him how to heel-toe and double clutch.

Ah this post is great. I always neutral and brake because I don't want to put any more stress on the tranny than necessary and brakes are really easy to replace.

There is this old guy at work that I give a ride home to sometimes. He always gives me crap about not downshifting and that one day he is going to have to show me how to drive the car right. I am glad to see that so many of you guys drive the same way I do. I CAN downshift smoothly, but my 9 year old synchros don't mind a few less shifts these days.

I give my trunk monkey a sling shot and a fist full of nails to shoot my tires out at point blank range in dire situations.

i just give it gas until i run into something, that usually does the trick

actually i downshift my tip all the time.. it's a hoot having to downshift 2 gears when i need to slow down quickly, especially without a tip chip.. if it's sudden stop, obviously i just break

why can'tanyone spell brakes correctly?

if you're stopping with your breaks, does that mean you have to break something to slow the car down?

down shifting also saves ur brake pads from wearing out as fast, some ppl say by 20%
