i was wondering how hard it would be to put a 5 spd manual trans in 97 a4 automatic?

that wouldn't be fun.. you'd have to fabricate the entire clutch assembly

shouldnt be to hard to do if you have a manual parts car, just time consuming.. for starters you would need misc. bolts/cables, drive shaft, diff, pedal cluster, various interior pieces

+1 I used to have a 12v, but now I'm MUCH happier with my 1.8T!

To hard, for it to be worth doing. Sell the car and buy one with a manual transmission if thats the path you wish to take.
