Default How hard is it to change rotors and pads yourself?

I have very little mechanical experience other than taking apart basic items in my cars like intakes, headlights, etc. I have no experience with changing out breaks. I just purchased front and rear drilled and slotted rotors with new brake pads and I would like to avoid paying a certified mechanic to charge me for however many ridiculous hours his “computer” says it takes to do the job. Have any of you guys done this on your B6? My car is a 04 1.8T Quattro Ultra Sport

I've done it on my B5.

As long as you have the right tools, it should be a breeze.

It's for the B5, so I'm not too sure if it applies to the B6.

However, it has pictures to make it easier for you.

I hope it helps.

I have a b5, but all brake systems are very similar.

Its not bad to do at all. You will need a special tool for the rear calipers to retract them, its real cheap to buy at an autoparts store. The rears "twist" back in, hence the tool to put on a socket and turn it.
The fronts just push back in with alarge c-clamp.
Other then that, you'll needhex socket ends, aratchet, and your tire iron, jack, etc.

Here is a writeup, to give you a general idea.

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a dodgeball.

It's quite easy if you have tools and some mechanical aptitude. Took me about 2 hours my first time.
