So I just got done talking with a local shop who does the GIAC chip and from them the software is $495 and about $135 in labor. So they quoted me $630 all done. The advantage is its all done in under like 2hrs.

So that's an extra $135 just for them to do it and quickly. The question I have then is how long is your car down typically when you send the ECU off to AWE?

 

That $135 has got to include labor AND tax. Right?

 

that price makes the diode mod look so much better....... $30bucks or so vs $630.....of coarse you'll probably have 10 more hp then me but thats fine

 

mine was 495 + 75, it only takes 20-30 min max.

I would tell them there full of shiz, it will sit there for an hour and a half and then the last 30 min. they will chip it.

If they are installing a DV as well then $630 makes sense.

 

$630 is robbery. I would reconsider my love for someone who is trying to rape me.
Ask them to break the price down. How much for the chip? How much for labor? How much for tax?

Ok looks like I might just do it myself anyways but how many actual days does it take to get the ECU to and back from AWE?

I am planning 3 days the car wont be driving:
1 day to remove/ship
1 day for them to work on it and send it back
1 day for it to arrive back
____
3 days total?

This is crazy, I just called em back up and they just said that is without any DV so a bailey would be another $149 plus the labor/tax which would be another $110.

Sounds like bull to me. Hopefully I can knock them way down on this...
