just put an amp in my 97 a4 without bose, after the tv, alarm and installation no money left over for speakers at the moment. whats the most u think u can throw at them before they blow?

 

Good lord dont put an aftermarket amp on the stock speakers! They will fry in like 4 seconds. I dont have the specs in front of me but they can prolly take like 25 watts. Leave the amp off till you get some decent speakers.

 

You will be fine - just do some tweaking where the gain on the amp is low enough.
You need to find the sweet spot on the volume where you get no clipping (means the gain is high enough) but not too loud to overmodulate the speakers. That will be the ceiling of your volume.
