I believe that if you run a carfax it will say what kind of title it was registered under. If it was salvaged it should of already been registered as such. Also remember not all accidents are reported so you have to trust actually seeing the car or having someone check it out.
But in order for it to have a salvage/rebuilt title the cost it would take to fix it after an accident must be greater than the actual value of the car. With that price coming from a used dealer (im a used car salesman) i would already assume the title is salvage/rebuild. That is really cheap, and you have to assume something is up when the dealer under prices a car. Just be careful take it from me i see iffy stuff every day.
Best thing you can do is test drive it and get a feel for the car. If its squirmy, overly squeeky, or doesn't track straight the frame might be off from the accident. Also look at the seals at the corners of the windshield to see if it was replaced, open the doors all the way and check if they sit and close evenly. Another simple thing most people neglect to do when buying a used car is look under car for leaks...Something about that price doesn't seem right. One trick used by car dealers just to get you on their lot is pricing a car very cheap then making up some crap when you finally get there, then they tell you look around lol
look on the inside of the wheel wells to see if there are any rincle marks, check the bults on the fenders for rust, if there is some rust on the heads of the bults the renders have been realined or replaced, check to see if the fenders and the hood match up. see if all the paint on all the body panels are the same shade look for any over spray, drive the car and make sure there is no shaking at higher speeds.. any one else go any ideas at what to look for these are all i can think of off the top of my head.. the audi i bought the guy was asking 9000 for with 72000 miles found that the fendor had been replaced becasue the bolts where all rusty and the hood was not proerly alined.. the tires were bald the altinaor was beat because the steam cleaned the car and messed it up.. and had some other problems i forgot about but i got him down to 5500, it was an out of state sale from a dealer I said i would take it with no warranty gave me a 90 day which he back out on but i didnt all the work on the car myslef so i dont really care..
