Default How often to get it serviced at dealership?

Hey Guys,

I thought I'd join and ask the experts here -- how often should I service my 2010 A4?

It has under 13,000 miles on it and it's been well over a year since I got it serviced last at a local dealership. I clearly am not driving it a lot -- so I'm not adding a lot of wear -- but is getting it serviced yearly still necessary for someone with my driving habits?

I'd like to certainly save a couple hundred dollars, which is what the dealership charges. Should I skip it, just going to a local gas station to do the basic servicing? Or is it a must to take it to the dealership?

Thanks in advance!!

As long as you are using the correct oil you can take it anywhere you trust. I would suggest yearly service or every 5k miles (depending on the type of driving you do) which ever comes first.

With so low miles you must back it out of the garage and right back in

make sure you check your manual for service mileage and times. It will tell you exactly what to service and when. And in some cases it will have a(XXX Miles OR after XXX months). In either case, cars sitting isnt good either. A car sitting too long can cause flat spots in rims so make sure you move it around now and again.

These guides may help you a bit. I know you arent storing your car exactly but some of the advice is good for someone who doesnt drive their car often.

your manual will tell you the service intervals.. but the service doesn't necessarily need to be done by the 'dealership'.. Personally i've never taken my audi for the dealership for anything but recalls and things that ONLY the dealer can do (electrical calibrations for instance)..

-1 driving habits.. letting a car sit is often WORSE then driving it daily

How do you clear the "service soon" message that comes up every time you start the car, since you don't get it serviced at the dealership?

Thanks guys! haha, yeah it probably seems that I only take it out of the garage to look at it :P everywhere I need to go is thankfully close, so I'll never have a ton of miles on it

With the ignition off press and hold the wrench button on the right side of the instrument cluster. Turn the ignition "on". Release the wrench key. Press and hold the 0,0 key. It will beep signifying the service reset.

I have a 2010 model. I only see "set" and "0.0"

Am I being blind? Or did they redesign it?
