how to remove radio

yeah how do you remove the radio ina 01 a4. its the audi symphony radio, i got the faceplate off but i cant figure out how to get the whole thing out.

there are four small insert holes sort of on each corner of the radio. you need a few tools to pull it out...... or you could try to find some substitute to pull it out.

yea like small zip ties or something. you can prolly find a set of the "keys" on ebay or something. stick em in and pull the entire thing out.

its its a double din you need 4 of the tools not just two.. i have two and i need to buy two more to remove mine..

Lol When I installed my alpine I used 2 fingernail files and a small knife, you have to be crafty. Once you see/feel what is holding it in it makes it alot easier, and possible to do it with a knife and some files

r these these prongs that need to be realeased in order to get this thing out, all mine are realesed but still in the way do i need to push em off to the side and just yank it out or are there more prongs

no you dont, stick 2 in on one side and pull, using a pick or something like that wedge it in that side. then do the other side.

Removing and installing “symphony” radio
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t Radio release tool -T10057-
– When renewing radio -R-, select “Replacement” function for appropriate control unit in “Guided Fault Finding”.
To do so, use the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051-.
– Switch off all electrical equipment.
– Remove ignition key.
Removing

– Insert radio release tools -T10057- into slots on radio -R- until they engage. Pointed ends of grips must face outwards.
– Grasp hold of grips on radio release tool -T10057- and pull radio -R- out of dash panel.
– Release and unplug electrical connectors at radio -R-.
– Press release tabs on radio -R- and remove radio release tools -T10057-.
Installing
– Plug in all connectors.
– Slide radio -R- carefully into dash panel and engage it in mounting frame.

good luck with that, the tools get stuck some times and need to be released when you take the radio out from the side...
