Can someone tell me how to take out the middle ac vents in a 97 a4?

They should pull right out. The safe way is to make a "puller" out of hanger wire..

Take a peice of metal hanger and bend it 90 degrees about one inch rom the end. Push the bent end between the vent slats, turn the hanger 90 degrees so that the bent part is now vertical and gently pull. The vent should pop out.

aahh just use a butter knife, thats the best way.
