techincally in the book it is 100k. I think they offer reimburisement for engine damage from early TB failure. I think they since changed it to 75k?????

I call BS, as well. I know what a broken timing belt is like. The belt on my Volvo broke a few months ago while driving and the car just stopped and wouldn't start. Also, those things are THICK and meaty. It is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that it would just "melt," even given the heat from the water pump.
My personal opinion is that they, in the process of removing the belt, thought it would be worth a try to try to tack on additional damage (be it bent heads, which would only result if you were driving (or cranking?) when the belt broke) or some other thing.
I would not let them get away with this. Take charge and make the bastards pay!

Thanks guys. I will first try Audi although my car is not under warranty. I purchased it in October of 03 "as is". (Dumb me)---- I will also talk to the shop again as well as the consumer advocate. So I will let you know what happens.[sm=outcold.gif]

Anyway, someone correct me if i'm wrong here... but I didn't think your car had to be under warranty for this timing belt issue? Just under 105k miles with a full service history?

Good memory ^^ LOL

The service history will be my problem. I did call the dealer today and they gave me a 800 number which i called. They told me that it would be up to the dealer to decide if it should be covered or not. Now all I get is his voice mail.[sm=badbadbad.gif]
Go down there and say to him that if this vehicle is not fixed under this warranty provided by Audi America, you will lodge a formal complaint with Audi America against his dealership. . . . . Why are we letting the retard mechanics from the other shop off scott free. Although this is covered by Audi America. You should be having a **** fight with that mong of a mechanic. "Oh, I dont have the right tools, cos i'm a moron"...... What an idiot. This is THERE fault. Sick the hubby onto them..... Better yet go find a homeless person and sick them on to them.
By no means should you be paying for the repair of this car.

I need a professional to write a letter stating that the car would have stopped if the belt had broken while I was driving it to the shop. Even though the there was a problem with the water pump. He is saying that he has pictures to prove that it was broken when he got to it. I know the only thing his pictures can prove is that the damage was done not when it was done. It looks like I will have to prove it to him. I guess they have the deny, deny, deny attitude.
This was someone elses point. I really can't argue with it. How about you.
The bad news is that even if the belt snapped while they were trying to get it into the service bay, the valve damage wouldn't be their fault unless they deliberately severed the belt, then tried to start the car. But what would be their motivation for doing this? The car was already there for a timing belt and water pump replacement.[sm=outcold.gif]
