they pretty much move the o2 sensor far enough away to where it sees about the same exhaust flow as it did with the cat there. The extra flow is what sets off the cel

That doesnt look good.

You may want to inspect your flex pipe section as well, cause if thats broken also, then you can do them both at the same time.

You can always get a high-flow cat instead of a test pipe. You should still pass emision with the HFC, and will get the performance gain as well (not quite as much, but better than stock cat).

can i get a TP? i need to pass MA emissions
probably not. just get a HFC, that way you get almost all the flow of a TP, while still being environmentally friendly.

edited for some terrible grammar.

You will not pass inspection in Mass with a TP if they check. You have three options in my opinion:

1. Get it welded
2. New cat or HFC
3. Pay off or find a station that doesnt give a crap to pass you with a TP.

I personally would get it welded.

Bad roads cost a typical American driver 1200 dollars a year in repairs.
Was it your *** or someone elses you pulled that info out of?
jk
But seriously, that sounds extremely exagerated.. Are you talking tax dollars, or cash out of pocket for flat tires, etc.? Huh?
Flat tires, frame damage, tie rod/control arm damage....anything and everything that a crappy road can contribute to. The point is that bad roads are very bad for cars.

If they do a sniffer test you need a cat, wether it's a less resttrictive high flow or a stocker, that's up to you. If all they do is an OBD check, you can do the test pipe with antifouler. Most shops won't do any exhaust work on a car without a cat though.

I put the TP on myself.. The place I go to in NJ doesn't do a sniff test they just plug into the car and read it. I'm thinking if there is no CEL there is no problem. Besides that I just got inspected last month so I have 2 years.. I prob wont even have the car in 2 years.
