Default I was just wondering....

Allrighty, as you guys know, my car is about 99% stock, and I'm keeping it that way till winter because I auto-x in GS class. Gotta get good stock before mod it up and put myself in DSP or something. Anyway, I was wondering about my intercooler. It's the stock SMIC and I was thinking that if I was able to get it really f*cking cold, it might benefit a little bit.

My question is, has anyone ever taken those instant cold packs, the ones usually used for sports medicine and junk, and packed them around the intercooler? Would there be any benefit from it, as those things get to about 30 degrees? I know they only last for a short while, but this wouldn't be something I'd be using for everyday street use. They last for about a half hour or so, most auto-x runs are one minute long, and I do five to six runs in the session. I could get a whole mess of them because of some of the clinics I work at.

That would probaby help quite a bit. I see guys icing their intercoolers before runs all the time at the drag strip.

I have no doubt it would work as long as the packs are not blocking air flow. Maybe wrap them around the pipe after the ic.

Another option would be to hook up nos or co2 to spray onto the ic before runs. Unless you made some kind of system that spraysautomatically when the ic reaches a certain temp.

Get a paintball 20oz c02 bottle with an on/off valve.

$25, ~$3 to fill it before the auto-x, turn it on and point it at the intercooler before a run, it should get it around freezing. these bottles will even ice over when you empty them.

paintball + cars ftw.

edit- can't get the picture to work.

Wouldnt that be against the rules?

Cold is good, should help if you wrap around the pipe off the smic.
