the ECU has nothing to do with the tranny TCU controls shifts - if they mean that the torque will be so high that it will cause the tranny undue stress, get the TIP chip just to help with faster shifts and less stress

TOTAL BS. your tranny can easily handle the regular k04 file, and possibly j31. they recommend a 5 bar fpr, fmic, and stock n75 valve for the basic k04 file because thats what the software was written for. it is not absolutely required tho.

level 10 tranny- absolute BS, u dont need it
fmic- will help but not necessary at all (especially if you live in cold weather)
5 bar fpr- really good idea to get but i've gotten away with my stock fpr and basic k04 file for 100k and haven't seen any problems
stock n75- seems to hold boost better than n75h with k04.

so thats- $0 for the n75 if you kept your stock one (if you didn't trade yours for a stock one and its still $0). 5 bar fpr- ~$175. fmic-$300 software~500. so to buy and install those and your k04 should be1300 max (and thats WITH the suggested stuff to add. if you dont get the fmic, which you really dont need being in NY, it should only cost 800 for software, 5 bar fpr, n75, and install.

They say the K04 file will cause the tranny to shift real hard for some reason.
no its not too much for the k04. te j31 file maybe, but not the basic file. and if you get a tip chip, it will really help out by reducing line pressure which will cause a drop in stress on the tranny

Its been over a year now with my K04 in my 99.5 TIP and yes my tranny does have harsh shifting sometimes around 6.5kRPM or so but its by no means going to break. They are giving you BS becuase they are lazy or told you something they couldnt do.
