okay... so my frinds and i were putting an intake on the 98 a4

we took off the air box and everything
unplugged the bosch chip and the mafs

hooked up the masf to the intake. hooked it up
plugged everything back in. we crank it. and it was struggling..

okay. anyone that has ever tried putting a bov on your audi. you will know what im talking about
becaues the effect was identical.

we put it in reverse. had to rev the hell outof it just to back out.

it ran rich as **** till about 3 grand then it would spool off like ive never seen
the sound was sick as ****. anad it sounded exactly like a bov actually.. if thats of any help.

but it was still struggling... any ideas? anything we leave out or didnt do..

by the way. we took it off and put it back to stock. and it was fine... so i really need anyone who
knows anythign about this's help.

Id say you need to let the stuff recalibrate i dont know for sure but I do know the reason the DV sounded louder is becasue of the intake they all do that

What Bosch chip?? The ICM??? Did you double check to make sure EVERYTHING was plugged back in??? Are there any vacuum lines or any hoses that are disconnected? If you have it back to stock you should just keep it that way because intakes dont really do anything for your car unless its heavily modified.

exactly... i mean. i got it for free..its new. everything was hooked back up
properly.

now that i got it where its easy enough to put back on. if its just a matter of recalibration
then im gonna put it back on. i know it does nthing

but.. it sounds studly.. so. how long would recalibration take if that was the case

It could be the calibration and i think you turn the ignition on and leave it like that with out the car running for a few mins or somthing i think you can search to find the exact way, also be sure everything is hooked up nice and tight and no vac leaks and you should be good

are you talking about the throtle body alignment?? I dont think that would have much to do with it but it could be worth a shot... illa4 if you got the intake for free then you should invest in a good quality heat shield setup.. the heat from the turbo/cat/engine/ that are sitting RIGHT next to the open filter is HOT HOT HOT...
