I think im going to go pick up this head unit tommorow.
i heard the glide touch feature really pissed people off when driving....they would hit a small bump and select something different by accident...etc..
Alpines are top notch for sound quality. A crutchfield rep said that even though some other brands offer 2-4 watts per channel more....the alpine has the most undistorted, clear power...and therefore comes with the best sound. A family member of mine has a standard alpine without the glidetouch(they didnt like it)...and it litterally sounds awesome. They hooked it up with xm radio..and even with stock speakers, no subs...it has nice clean bass and the sound is great. cant go wrong with alpine...i've also heard their Type R subs are great.

From experience, the Alpine has great Sound Quality, and is very simple...There are a lot of other flashy radios but they tend to have more problems...Never had any complications with my Alpine...JVC is pretty good also actually....Just whatever you do, Don't go the SONY route...or else you will be asking for a sh*t load of problems. They look pretty at first and then they start acting up.
Did you not read my post about the 9855? Audiophiles everywhere know that alpine has gone down the toilet.
Get an old 9833, 9835, 7998, 7897.
The 9855 can suck my ***.

My mum has just bought a new headunit for her car... It has a USB socket on it for memory sticks, or my psp (in USB mode), or whatever on it.. It cost her 120 bucks... bargain..sound is pretty good as well!
Its pretty swish. the memory stick just juts out a bit, but it a lot better than 87 cd's littering your glovebox, and all that crap. If you have a storage device that uses usb, you can use that..very handy.
