As the title says but i dont want to void any part of my warranty. I wanted to get the GIAC for my 01 1.8TQ but i was just looking at the APR website, and i stole this quote from them "All APR chip upgrades use encryption, which serve several purposes. First, it keeps prying eyes out of our software and prevents lesser companies from copying the chip and degrading the product. Secondly, the encryption prevents the dealer from flash programming the ECU. Also, all APR software is undetectable to a dealers VAG diagnostic tool" Does this mean that i can get the ARP chip for my car, & the dealership wont know i have it? Does GIAC have something similar to this? Lastly, if this is my only option to get chipped, is the ARP chip good or as good as the GIAC? Thanks everyone for all the help i've been getting from this great website

from my experience and what a mechanic told me is most of the time they dont bother looking for it. he said its like doing foot surgury and opening the brain. but if something brakes and they can point the cause to the chip then they can only void the warrenty for what hte chip direclty broke.

so i should just go ahead & pick up the GIAC & figure if anything happens to my car that whoever is repairing my car wont even look at the computer?

there are very few cases of a warrenty being voided by a chip, some dealerships even offer a chipping service
i would go with giac, and remember you will also need to upgrade the diverter valve

chances are, if the tech is doing something.. they wont care if the car is chipped

Depending on what kind of work you might have done at the dealer, they will typically test drive your car. If youre a smart Audi owner you will have a boost gauge. All a tech needs to see is anything over 10ish psi and he/she will know. Im sure a lot of tech's are cool and dont give a ****, but Im sure a lot do too.
