Default Idle Surging / Rough Idling

2001 A4 B5 1.8TQ TIP

When I start the car it'll idle right up at about 1400rpm for about two minutes before dying down to normal. This didn't used to happen and it's harsh on the car to start up cold and idle high. When I'm completely stopped, if I hit the gas just slightly and hold the pedal in that same position, the car kinda jumps forward and then pauses over and over again until I actually push the gas in farther. The idling isn't the turbo just pumping up either...the turbo will calm down much sooner than the idle. Also, when I come to a stop at a light or whatever the rpm's will bounce (not too low) and the engine will surge.

I've replaced both 02 sensors, put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank, and cleaned my MAF. My spark plugs all have a normal light brown color to them and the gap looks the same on all of them. The problem is still here, any ideas?

Thanks...
LampyB.

Someone (badluckaudi i think)had said coolant temp sensor could be causeing this type of problem a few weeks ago when i asked about my rpm bounce. (search "rpm bounce" to see if it sounds similar)

yeah i read your "rpm bounce" thread the other day...mine is a lot more mild. The car isn't about to shut off or cut out. It's just a straight up surge/bounce exactly like if you've got a bad 02 sensor, but I've already replaced them.

That was a 1 time accurance for me, but it always bounces a couple hundred on a cold start till it drops to normal idle. If I tap the gas at the light or inch up it will bounce maybe 100-200 a couple times then go back to normal. It dont seem to give any problems other than that though so i dont worry about. Someone also sugested the tuning might need to be tweeked a bit too.

What ever the case let us know if you figure out what is causing it, because i for 1 am curious to what's doing it.
