I have 35 all around and I'm happy with how it looks. here's a pic:

 

dont mix the tint. mine is 12% all teh way around its great

 

will 35 be dark enought tho, with 20 all get pulled over and id ont wanna have to get my windows untitned.

 

let us know about those headlights when they come. they look like Valeo's but I dont think they are. what you said about the shortshifter isnt exactly true. a DIY short shifter can make for shorter throws since your hand doesnt have to travel as far.

 

I dont think you will have a probelm with 20 unless the police in your area are really strict the only thing i would be worried about is passing inspection becuase i heard somewhere that they test tint if you have it...i've had state troopers stare right at me through my tint and not said anything(yet *knocks on wood*)..but its your car soo do what you want with it

 

I have 15% in da rear and I have 30% in da front, I honestly think it looks better than no tint at all, I'm just not up for being pulled over (ever)

good luck w ur headlights, mine were a nightmare, I ended up coughing up $ for da hour a labor it took my local shop toinstallmine (but I got da cheapy 2 piece)

how does a tint shop come up with the numbers? do they buy rols of tint in certain percents, maybe i could get liek 30% all the way around.

You guys are lucky...Illinois tint laws suck. I don't think you can legally have any tint on your front windows without a doctor's note saying you have an eye condition (my parents weren't exactly up for that-lol).
